Welcome to the Icelandic National Jamboree 2026

Reserve the dates July 20th – July 26th 2026!

The Icelandic Scout Association invites scouts from all around the world to the National Jamboree in the summer of 2026. The event will be held from July 20th to 26th, and the theme is Due North. Join us for an unforgettable adventure in the enchanting surroundings of Hamrar.

The National Jamboree is for scouts aged 10 – 17. It is a celebration because we welcome scouts from all around the world. Around 2-3000 scouts from around the world will come together for this experience.

We will create a true world of adventure. Each troop sets up a camp where the scouts will live together for a week. This often challanges them and pushes them outside of their comfort zone, especially those attending scout camp for the first time. The scouts will get a chance to meet new people and build lifelong friendships.
Jamborees are a cornerstone of the scouting program, offering opportunities to strengthen leadership skills and creativity. In nature scouts can connect with the environment and reflect on their place in the world. We take on exciting challanges that build confidence, responsibility and knowledge.

The program at the Jamboree is diverse and full of excitement:
🎲 Games
⛰️ Hiking
🏕️ Camp life
🏙️ City visit
🧩 Challenges
🔥 Campfire evenings
🌙 Night games
…and much more all day long!

Where is the Jamboree?

Location: Outdoor Scout Center at Hamrar, Akureyri. The campsite is about 2 km from downtown Akureyri, offering beautiful campgrounds surrounded by forest and open space.

When: July 20 – 26, 2026

How to get there: You can take a city bus from downtown Akureyri and then walk 15 minutes to Hamrar. There are daily buses from Reykjavík to Akureyri (approx. 5 hour journey) and daily flights (approx. 40 minutes). Most international flights arrive at Keflavík International Airport, but Akureyri Airport (just 2 km from Hamrar) also serves international flights.

Due North

At the jamboree we will explore the magical world of Hamrar and its surroundings. We’ll enjoy outdoor life and adventures. The theme will lead us into nature, where we will learn survival skills and experience wildlife, vegetation, weather, landscapes, and the surrounding community. We will also examine the effects of global warming on the area and explore sustainability in northern regions, connecting these topics to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We are within the Arctic region, and Hamrar is the northernmost scout center in the world.

Anyone aged 18 or older can join either as a troop leader or IST member.
